Learning from African Christians

A fellow missionary shared this article this week on Facebook, and it put some of my exact thoughts into words.
I hope you can find some time to be encouraged by this article, and see how daily the African faith challenges me to continue to grow in my faith.

http://matthiasmedia.com/briefing/2013/04/what-we-can-learn-from-african-christians/

In the beginning of this article it talks about equipping Africans to reach Africans. Pray for us as we try to do just that. In previous years, African countries desperately needed to hear the word of God and be evangelized to, today the urgency is to train and disciple them. It’s easy to ask Africans to believe in Jesus, but disciplining them is most important.

We can learn a lot from the African faith and how they live it out everyday.  Pray for us as we continue to learn from them and work together to make disciples.

Easter

After our family being a part all week, Easter morning was great to be together as a family. Easter celebrations are pretty much not-existent in Kenya, but…this year is filled with new traditions for our family…

And a Easter Balloon Hunt is one of them!

I was unable to find any Easter Eggs in Kenya, so Fred and I worked hard at stuffing balloons with candy and money for Lucy. Fred or Lucy had never heard of a Easter Egg Hunt so we had a lot of fun packingg, hiding, finding and popping Easter Balloons!

Awana Training

Whoa, I’m exhausted from a long week of training for Awana, but very excited about beginning the program in Kenya.  As many of you know, I helped start Awana at Trinity before I left for Kenya, so I had an idea about the program. However it was very exciting learning more about Awana in the context of Kenya. Very worth the training.

I traveled with another Sunday School teacher who said that the week for training was invaluable. She thanks God for the opportunity to be a part of this program. We both feel like God united us as a team and helped us grab the vision for children ministry in Good News. Praise God!
